Chalk the Walk Event

I went "home" this past weekend....to see my family. I haven't seen any of them, save for one sister, in over 2 years. It was a wonderful, but very fast trip. I look forward to going again.
Anyway...to the point of this post. My hometown was having their 3rd annual "Chalk the Walk" event. For anyone not familiar with this, they blocked off two blocks worth of the main street in town. In one area was a large rectangle, divided into many small rectangles. The object is to have people sign up to "chalk" one of the squares (I'm not sure how much it costs to do this). They are given the chalk to use, and a diagram showing them what they are to chalk in the area. When it is all said and done, all those little squares will become the tapestry of a famous painting. This year, the painting was "The Big Bluff"....better known as the Dogs playing Poker.
In other areas of the blocked off streets, people were doing their own creative chalking as well. There were also musicians playing. It was really cool. I'm attaching a few pictures of the chalk work.
These first ones are the "free art" work.

The next picture is the square my sister chalked (good thing for her it was just a plain brownish-burgundy square. And said that really it was very hard to do!

Unfortunately, I had to head back home and did not get a chance to see the final product. Darn it!
I hope these pictures downloaded okay....this was the first time I've added any on mybloggers.

It truly amazed me to see the chalk drawings and feel the talent that these people have. I am not gifted in the arts. Far better that I just look, and not attempt myself!
And I'm happy just looking!

Are the squares marked as to what color goes where? That pretty cool, haven't ever heard of anything like that before.
