I Discovered Today

that power tubing is terrifying. Especially when the boat driver has no idea of what he is doing (DH). BIL went first. Good thing too since DH flipped the tube TWICE, DOING THE SAME THING. Then BIL fell in all by himself once! LOL! And this lake is COLD! As in the shock nearly incapacitates you.

After they got it figured out, we all took turns riding it. I went (slow) with DD, and it was still scary. Especially since a couple of times the tube (actually, it's shaped like a loveseat!) threatened to sink.

I also discovered today that my 8 foot sit-on-top kayak is no substitute for a stand up paddle board. I could paddle it okay kneeling, but after falling off 3 times trying to paddle it while standing up, I gave up. It's less stable than standing on the flat side of a BOSU ball. I managed to paddle once or twice, then lost balance, and in I went!

There is a commercial showing a guy jumping off a dock into a lake, then screaming... because Canadians are used to cold lakes... that would be how cold this lake it. Water straight off the Rocky Mountains.

I'm just not a water person, especially if it's cold. Glad you had fun, however.

Okay what's an exercise ball? A BOSU? The last time I exercised was in the Marines--that was over 57 years ago!!!

An exercise (or physio ball) is a huge ball, 55 or 65" diameter that adds unstability to "normal" exercises - like doing pushups with your legs on the ball, etc. A BOSU is half a ball, with a flat disc as the other side. You can use either side. Again, it's for balance or adding unstability to exercises to make your muscles work harder.

All sounds like fun to me.

Being on the water is fun. Being dragged behind a boat is terrifying!

'no substitute for a stand up paddle board.' I posted a picture yesterday of a guy doing the stand up paddling--I would really like to try it but my balance is way off--someday! I figure if I fall I can always fall on one of the manatees that hang out in the bay and they would take me back to shore!

Manatees! Cool! The boards are surprisingly stable. If you can handle an exercise ball or BOSU ball, you would have enough balance for it.
