And now I feel more prepared to run in colder weather.
My tallest running socks (which are ankle height) don't quite meet the bottom of my winter running tights (long legs). That little patch of skin doesn't feel cold when I run, but when I'm done, and it's red and swollen... OMG!
At SportChek, they had buy one package of socks get the second package for half price. Hmm, I only needed one pair, but with a deal like that...
So, I'm now the proud owner of an $18 pair of wool hiking socks and TWO pairs (it was a two pack) of knee high UnderArmour multisport (and multicoloured!) socks! The two pack was $20. Eek! But with one set at half price, $10 per pair isn't too bad...
I ran in the wool socks today. They were great! Comfortable, no rubbing, warm, dry and tall enough. It snowed all yesterday, so there were parts that were difficult to run through - a few inches of shifting snow over a rough gravel road. And running on the snow filled grass when a vehicle is passing is an extra good workout! It was foggy, and I had ice on my eyelashes when I got home! Such fun! I turned around at a rail crossing, and took a few seconds to stand on a snow covered rail, just for the fun of it. (yes, I checked for trains first!)
