Earlier this year I spent two glorious weeks in Bali, my favorite holiday island which has become my second home.
This is my third trip here since I moved back to Perth from Jakarta last year. It seems I cant stay away from Indonesia...lol.
The
last couple of times I didnt take many photos at all, but this time I
decided to take quite a few to show you guys just a little bit of why I
love the place so much.
I
want to start with a few photos of where I stayed, and I will post
subsequent blogs of the different sights I photographed later. Some
pics might be interesting, some might be boring so just whiz through
them at your leisure.
When
it comes to hotel accommodation in Bali, I really prefer to stay at
Balinese type hotels as opposed to western type flashy resorts. The
Balinese style makes me feel more "at home" while the western flashy
resorts feel more like you're just on a holiday and it does feel
different. I've stayed at both types over the years and always go back
to the Balinese style with the bonus that is it is also
mega-cheaper!!!!! These days I am on a budget so I cant fly business
class like I used to anymore and those five star hotels are now way out
of my league...lol.
These
first set of pics are of the hotel where I stayed, right in the heart
of Kuta which is the most popular tourist area with hundreds of pubs and
restaurants and shopping malls and bargain markets...and it's right on
the beach.
This hotel
is called the Yulia Beach Inn, and once you're within the hotel
grounds, all the noise and hustle and bustle of Kuta disappears. This
place is quiet and tranquil and peaceful and lovely.
I took these photos at 6am in the morning, that's why there's nobody around.
Each
room is an individual bungalow with your own little porch and a small
little garden in front so it is very private and very quiet.
This
is my little bungalow. A very spacious but cosy room with all the
modern amenities you could want....including a huge flatscreen tv and
all the best cable channels.
The gardens around the bungalows are shady and leafy and beautiful.
There's
a large gazebo for private poolside massages if you want or in the
evenings the Balinese musicians sit here and play their Balinese
instruments while you relax by the pool with a few drinks.
There
are also tables and chairs so if you want to have dinner by the pool,
the restaurant staff are always happy to bring the food out to you.
there's a nice little rockery/koi pond next to the gazebo where the trickling of water from a fountain can be mesmerizing.
The swimming pool is gorgeous, sparkling clean and the water is nice and cool.
That
little hut at the end is a bar, they have staff at night so you can
order drinks while sitting in the pool. I enjoyed one or two
pinacoladas here a few times...lol.
The
pool also has a little kiddie paddle pool area....which is good 'cos
kids tend to pee in the pool so it's separated from the adults...lol.
Not
too sure about the ultra bright red pool side furniture, but I guess it
added a brilliant splash of color against the greeness of the "oasis".
This
path leads to the back of the hotel grounds with lots more bungalows,
the further back you go, the cheaper the accommodation.
The hotel itself is fairly old but the rooms were all refurbished back in 2007 so the rooms are clean and modern.
and the bathrooms are still looking new and very clean.
There's a well stocked mini-fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a safety deposit box inside the cupboard.
What more could you ask for??
To be continued...
"Bali Ha'i may call you,
Any night, any day,
In your heart, you'll hear it call you:
"Come away...Come away."
