Bali - Island of the Gods

Have I told you lately, I love Bali. I'm going back there on the 10th of April and I cant wait.
When I go on a holiday I dont like to spend money on luxury 5 star hotels. To me it's a waste because I only use the room to sleep in at night after I've been out all day. All I want really is a nice clean room with air-conditioning and as long as the bed and the bathroom is clean, I'm happy.
That said, the hotel I will be staying at in April is one of those luxury ones but it's not my choosing.
It is called the Mansion and it's a five star luxury hotel..here's the link if you wanna see https://www.themansionbali.com/
My step-sister in Sydney who is meeting me there is the one who chose it and who am I to argue...lol. She's always been one who loves luxury when she travels...she's used to it because she used to be a Cathay Pacific stewardess and they always stayed in 4 or 5 star hotels whenever they had lay-overs.
I on the other hand have always stayed in a nice little 3 star hotel right across the road from the beautiful beach in Kuta.
It is called the Aneka Beach Hotel and it's cheap but clean and very friendly. I've stayed there countless times so I've gotten to know everyone who works there and have always enjoyed it.  Here's some pics of one of my many stays at this okay and inexpensive hotel.

The entrance to the hotel...its quite a drive from the main road which is good because it's right across from the beach so it's noisy and busy.

The gardens are gorgeous and very well maintained.

The swimming pool has a bar on one end and there are bar stools you sit on underwater.

This is the Karaoke bar right alongside the pool. Balinese looove their karaoke and this bar is always partying every night!! It's so much fun.

gotta add a controversial pic in there somewhere, otherwise it gets boring...lol. Please dont ask, it was embarrassing enough to hold it while the pic was being taken...lol.

This is the Cempaka Restaurant right next to the pool as well, this was taken about mid morning, after most of the guests had finished breakfast. The food is mainly Indonesian but you can always order a steak and fries or something ''foreign'' if you insist..lol.

This is one of the lovely Balinese girls that works at the hotel. Very friendly and nothing is too much or too difficult.

These are some of the friends you get to make from all over the world. Every night is party time by the pool.

The hotel also organizes outings and excursions...this one is to a horse stud owned by an Aussie guy from Sydney. He breeds horses and loves them.

This is one of a million music shops in Kuta, they sell music and video dvd's from all over the world. I thought you'd be interested in some of their Balinese Art (or maybe not...lol)

If you ever get a chance to travel overseas, Bali awaits and wont disappoint!

Sorry to be late in seeing this -- am working my way through 500 e mails. Great pix -- maybe I'll get to Bali before "the end".

Hi Maria, this is my first visit to your blog & I'd like to comment on your photos of Bali - they're absolutely wonderful! & thank you for sharing them with us. I don't travel as much as I'd like and write an eclectic, occasional blog. Perhaps you might like to check me out too. Cheers

Hi Blogsterella, I'm glad you enjoyed this post. I dont post here very often because I have heaps of trouble with their set-up. Their editing is a nightmare and uploading pics is an even bigger nightmare...lol. Will pop in and visit your blog shortly.

We all love shoes but you will get a laugh out of one of the guys at Home Depot who was wearing a hot purple shirt under his Home Depot bib, and hot purple shoes. And he said, when I remarked on the match, that he had 40 pairs of different colored sneakers, each paired with a matching work shirt. And Ed said, thank you Imelda Marcos.

...I've been called Imelda a few times.

I'd love to visit Bali! WOW! But it was hard enough flying to Hawaii. Not sure I could handle all that time in an airplane. And yes, that was quite a eye-opener of a photo--you and whatever you were holding!

I flew from sydney to Los Angeles once...it was waaaaaaay too long and I swore never again but in the end it was worth it. I hate flying at the best of times. You would love Bali, it's a whole different world.

Your "low end" hotel is luxurious enough for me. I have nothing against 5 stars, mind you, but sometimes they can be impersonal. I envy you your trip. Enjoy it. Take pix!

I've grown to love my "low end'' hotel, I would always choose to stay there myself whenever I visit Bali. Luxury has a price....you dont have as much to spend on shopping for SHOES!!!
