This weekend proved to be the end of autumn and the beginning of our winter. It started snowing a little on Friday afternoon. I had gone to town to stock up on groceries, etc., because I knew this storm was coming our way. Coming home over the mountain pass, I hit significant snow. On Saturday it spit snow off and on all day. But, today, Mother Nature has really gotten down to business with this snow.
We were suppose to have heavy winds, but that hasn't happened in our area. I was out in the snow for awhile as our cows finally came home this afternoon. They had disappeared for the last couple of weeks and I was worried they had gone up the mountain. I guess with the snow, they decided it was time to come home and beg for some hay. So, they go their first feeding of hay for this winter.
The neighbor is doing my feeding along with a couple of kids who work for him. They didn't do it right. They put it off the truck in pretty much one spot. It needs to be spread out more... a flake here and a flake of hay there. Guess tomorrow, I'll have to do some training on how to feed.
My satellite tv dish is all snowed up so don't have tv either. I can tell it is gonna be a rough winter around here. Usually, I love the first snow and I don't mind winter at all. But this year, I'm absolutely dreading it. Maybe, I'm getting too old for snow. :o(
