It's Snowing !

This weekend proved to be the end of autumn and the beginning of our winter. It started snowing a little on Friday afternoon. I had gone to town to stock up on groceries, etc., because I knew this storm was coming our way. Coming home over the mountain pass, I hit significant snow. On Saturday it spit snow off and on all day. But, today, Mother Nature has really gotten down to business with this snow.

We were suppose to have heavy winds, but that hasn't happened in our area. I was out in the snow for awhile as our cows finally came home this afternoon. They had disappeared for the last couple of weeks and I was worried they had gone up the mountain. I guess with the snow, they decided it was time to come home and beg for some hay. So, they go their first feeding of hay for this winter.

The neighbor is doing my feeding along with a couple of kids who work for him. They didn't do it right. They put it off the truck in pretty much one spot. It needs to be spread out more... a flake here and a flake of hay there. Guess tomorrow, I'll have to do some training on how to feed.

My satellite tv dish is all snowed up so don't have tv either. I can tell it is gonna be a rough winter around here. Usually, I love the first snow and I don't mind winter at all. But this year, I'm absolutely dreading it. Maybe, I'm getting too old for snow. :o(

Love hot spiced tea. I'll drink it when I come back in the house from tending to the cows.

Brr...we are freezing out you know whats off here on the coast. We aren't use to this kind of cold snap. At least in your part of Oregon you are use to this. I say brr again.

Beautiful picture Annie. I would love to have snow but, we are getting freezing drizzle and freezing rain. It was 79 yesterday afternoon and 37 at midnight that was our high for the day as it dropped like a rock. We haven't gotten out of the mid 20's today and that wind is awful. Right now it is 23 and the wind chill is 12. Brrrr

We should invent heated satellite dishes. And hay cannons.

Snow and cold makes one anticipate and appreciate nice weather to come. I just wish it didn't take so long.

A northern just blew in this afternoon, and we are supposed to have a mixture of snow, freezing rain, and sleet over the next few days. I would much rather just have the snow. Stay warm.

They use to say "throw another log on the fire", now it's "throw another shovel of pellets in the wood stove"

I saw the northwestern US weather forecast today and thought of you, dear Annie. You may be getting some significant snow in the next few days, so stay snuggled and cozy when you can. I'm sending you some hot spiced tea to keep you warm!
