There is a great picture book for older children that looks into the challenge of the garbage on the high sees. I can definitely see how you are connecting it to the Internet. Interesting post!

Bipoloar disorder can be a big challenge because of the huge swings involved. My mom was diagnosed with it, and she had counseling an prescription to help manage it. I would suspect that you are at a point in your life when it can be more challenging since your chemistry is still very much in flux as you are finishing up with puberty.

I hope the new meds help. Have you considered stopping into mental health services on your campus. Sometimes, major shifts (such as starting college) can be really great experiences, but they come with some stress that we don't necessarily recognize because we are actually pretty happy about what is goign on.

I always love these kinds of reports. It is so fun to see how much things have changed ... or stayed the same!

Thanks for your coming out story. You are right in that it is an ongoing thing and never really fully ends. In some ways, it does get easier because you reach a point where all of the people you are closest to you know. It sounds like you are pretty much there now, which is really helpful.

I am not going to follow in Martin's statement and say that your process was easy because it is never easy. That deep down fear of your loved ones turning away from you is never easy. It is scarring even when our friends and family are welcoming to who we are.

He is right in that fact that a lot people who come out do have their fears realized. When I was in college, I was coming out at the same time as a lesbian friend. She was kicked out of the house and had to figure out how to finish college because she had to start paying for it on her own. My experience was so much more like yours, which was a lot smoother.

I will say that I have reached a point when I know longer flinch when people make an assumption that I am straight. I just make the correction and move on. Most people actually take it in stride. I don't know if it is because I am not bothered by it and move on or what.

I have to say that I am irritated by what is in your review. It is not actually anything relating to your perspective or your comments, but I am trying to figure out why they bothered to use the Alex Cross character, even though eveything I have seen has indicated it is loosely based on one of the books by James Patterson. From what I can tell, all they did take was the name of Alex Cross, the fact that he is African American, and his role as a police detective/psychologist who works on some of the most violent cases in America.

All of the other details like the name of his best friends, his wife Maria (?), the lack of Nana Mama, and so many other things that make the books interesting is irksome.
Morgan Freeman was actually Alex Cross in a few movies (such as Along Came a Spider) that were based on the two earliest books in thes series.

It sounds like you and Mike are settling well into his retirement.
I know that Buffy was loved and is terribly missed. He was one special little guy.

What a cool project. As an instructor, I know that assignments can sometimes feel overwhelming, but the secret is to break it down into the componant parts and doing each of those. That is usually achievable by step ... resulting the assignment working out just fine. I am sure you will do wonderfully!

I have a lot of trouble with this series. While I find the movies themselves really interesting and nice works of steampunk/mystery, I think they make use of the characters of Doyle (and notoriety that goes with it) with a total lack of respect for the original source material. None of the characters are presented in a way that reflects their tradition. Check out CBS's Elementary or BBCs Sherlock for that.

This doesn't take a way from the great action and interesting tales that are in the two movies. I just wished they hadn't abused the use of the Holmesian world. It is kind of a betrayal.

I am not sure that makes any sense.

Congrats to your parents on their anniversary! 30 is something to really celebrate! It sounds like you and your sibs did a great job with throwing together a great party.

It is funny that you are talking about the name Grayson. A British mystery show from th 80s that I am watching that has introduce a female character with that name. They really explored where her parents came up with it.

As for unique names, I find that it is a real challenge for the kids who have them. It can be torture no matter how cute or neat the parents think they are going to me.

Ray, my spouse, has a history of getting bronchitis. It is definitely not fun! It is great taht you have your mom to take care of you. It always helps to have someone giving you a little TLC when you don't feel well.

Feel better soon!
