The spirit of these movies reminds me of that TV series The Wild Wild West.

I have a lot of trouble with this series. While I find the movies themselves really interesting and nice works of steampunk/mystery, I think they make use of the characters of Doyle (and notoriety that goes with it) with a total lack of respect for the original source material. None of the characters are presented in a way that reflects their tradition. Check out CBS's Elementary or BBCs Sherlock for that.

This doesn't take a way from the great action and interesting tales that are in the two movies. I just wished they hadn't abused the use of the Holmesian world. It is kind of a betrayal.

I am not sure that makes any sense.
