Before My Sister Lost Herself ...
she had some lovely moments. The following is one of them. It is a letter she wrote to the Sun-Times in Chicago on my behalf. It is guileless and charming and funny and I like to remember her this way.

Mr. Gregory Favre
The Sun-Times

Dear Mr. Favre … Here I am having to write to you … a disgruntled subscriber, all because you’ve been fiddling with the format of the features section … mainly the biorhythm column … which I personally do not use … but unfailingly send to New York to my sister Harriet, who, by the way, works for the New York Times Syndication Sales … Anyway … it looks like you will force me to buy the Tribune just to keep my sister happy biorhythmically.
I also want to go on record with what a sacrifice I was making, because the biorhythm column was back to back with your daily excellent puzzle. And I wasn’t too happy with your goof last Thursday with the repeat of the diagramless puzzle to 2 Thursdays previously …
Every day I usually read the Sun Times from the front page stopping just short of the sports section …
Won’t you please reconsider …
Sincerely,
Tula
I have to add that I did not ask my sister to send me this column. She just got it into her head that I could use it to stay fit or something. Her son used to refer to her as “ Mom, the space cadetâ€.
