I was clicking around my computer menus and noticed a Firefox item that said if I was having problems I could fix it by resetting Firefox to its default factory setting. It itemized, for instance, blank box pop-ups that accompanied a visit to almost any web site, and until you deleted each one, you could not continue. Also the boxes would block your view of the site you wanted. It was a nuisance escalating to daunting proportions.
So I stumbled through the instructions and managed to successfully re-set Firefox. Not only are the pop-ups gone but MyBloggers has returned to its natural state. I am thrilled. And also thanks to Laura for suggesting it might be my browser.
I heard from an old friend to whom I had sent a snail mail because I didn’t have her e mail. I was more than pleased that she responded. She doesn’t remember not responding to phone messages years ago – she never answers her phone, preferring to return calls – giving me the impression she was not interested in pursuing our friendship. Well, you may wonder, why did I try again? Because I continue to care about her. I don't minded being rejected more than once, and sometimes it wasn't bona fide rejection to start with, so I pursue.
Maybe I can get her to visit.
Cemetery Gary (differentiating from Next-door-Gary) came by to borrow our lawnmower while his is being repaired and said he would comp a couple of mowings for the privilege, but I think Ed will pay him anyway.
While here, Gary looked around and said he would be back to de-frond some hanging pieces of palm tree, clip our ixora bush, and tidy up here and there. Our bougainvillea is also overgrown and branches are slapping me in the face as I pass it (it overhangs the walkway when it is not trimmed).
The fellow who might have fixed our garage door system never answered my message to come by and give me a quote. I have the feeling the problem (electronic system needs replacing) is beneath him. I could call again, but I am annoyed that he just ignored me.
For a few years now, the button nearest the driveway hasn’t worked. So I open the door by using the one next to the interior of the house, remove my bike, go back to the button and press it and run like hell to get outside before the door bangs me on the head. Or I could just go in the house and go out our front house door, but I like risk.
Lately, the door opens on its own. I’ve mentioned that. Ed thinks it might be a short. I was worried that a cat hibernating in there would be frightened and run out so we took a C clamp and inserted it in a piece of the side mechanism. Now when it wants to open on its own, the clamp stops it, but it still leaves a foot or so of open space at the bottom and a cat could still get out. Meanwhile, now I have to remove the clamp when I want to use my bike, close the door, go back and replace the clamp, and then leave through the house. Reverse this process when I want to put my bike away.
Ed is reluctant to call for repairs for his own convoluted reasons.
