A Pain in the Hip

Some days ago, our fashion friend Lila spent a few days with us while on assignment to Chico's. She left her suitcase with us because she was leaving and then returning and came by last Tuesday to pick it up. She'll be around a while. The company has rented an apartment for her in Fort Myers. (From our house, over the big bridge, about 45 minutes.)

We went to dinner at Sandy Hook. All went well. When we got up from the table, I felt pain in my right hip but didn't think too much of it. By the time we got to the house, it was worse, by the time I went to bed, I couldn't put any weight on the right leg at all. I had to get up twice during the night, and that was torture. At one point, I crawled back to bed on my hands and knees. Wednesday was just as bad and I spent most of the day in bed with the heating pad, and if I had to get anywhere I used a cane and leaned on nearby furniture.

I called the doctor and got an appointment with the nurse practitioner for Thursday. By then the pain, thanks to Tylenol, was under control, but the cause was yet to be determined. A site I found on line said it might be septic (infectious) arthritis, which seemed to resonate because, along with the pain, I had flu like symptoms -- ague.

That night I went without dinner. Ed had been invited to dinner with Luella, his 89-year-old succubus, who resents me because I am married to her go-to guy. I am never invited. He said she recommends his services, and considers it prudent to indulge her. Fine. It's not as if he is surrounded at these events by major intellects. Just a table of marginally sentient seniors. And the icing is they are all Trump supporters. (Read brain-dead.) Go for it, dear. Anyway, I was too undone to make any food for myself and just slept through it all.

So I had blood taken and a hip x-ray and am waiting for results. But I am walking again with very minor pain and only now and then. I am relieved that I am better, but am curious as to what happened. And if it is a systemic infection, this will be determined from the blood work, and I will probably get an antibiotic.

It's always something.

xx, Teal

I am always so resentful when I am ill and I am currently recovering
from something flu like as well as a bladder infection. I do so hope
that your leg was just an infection that can be cured with an antibiotic.
I am taking Cipro and it makes me nauseated.

When things happen in later life, it is always more worrisome. Makes one wonder if it's the start of something that can't be fixed.I am walking fine now, very little left to remind me. Still waiting for results, though. Sorry you are not well. Cranbury juice is supposed to be very good for urinary issues. Feel better soon.

There you were, just living life and that happened. I hope it's easily cured.
