Florida is the lightning capital of the country. Sometimes when I am caught on my bike, I get really worried. But if I am safe in the house, I love to watch the show over the water.
I'd rather have Sherrod Brown than Bernie Sanders (only because he is past his vigor). Call me a throwback, Hillary is still my first choice. She knows where the bodies are buried, she's earned a shot, she has prevailed in the face of pervasive and evil naysaying. She has a hide like a rhinoceros, and that doesn't mean she doesn't feel. And she's brilliant. I think progressives who say they aren't interested in her are suffering from the female thing. Oh, my God, she's a woman.
You and your family sure have a lot on your plate. So sorry your daughter has the stress of her son to deal with. I've wondered if a robot vacuum would be a good thing to have. We have a lot of stuff. Would it find its way around? Kitties would probably hide under the bed. Really pleased to hear Sue is overcoming so many difficulties.
Well put. Sounds like she is in over her head. At least you enjoyed the chocolates?
Jon, that's beautiful. I want to walk down that path.
The population has gone ape. I smoked pot once or twice with friends (science fiction writer and his wife). I had stopped smoking regular cigarettes. The heat in my throat was way too intense. I never did it again. I didn't even get high. I had a friend who was a pothead. His thinking was always foggy. His motivation was non-existent. In his 40s, he depended on money from his parents for rent. Too much pot is damaging to the brain. Legalizing it for other than medical reasons is, I think, a mistake. We do not appear to have a population that knows how to be moderate.
The fact that he couldn't remember your specs from the beginning was a big red light. Sloppy work is the least of it. It sounds like he would have taken your deposit and disappeared.
I'm going to Google Chillhouly - maybe there will be photos. Warhol was a joke. His followers supremely ignorant, all looking to be thought special because they saw something others did not. Not. Glad you got a break.
Glad it wasn't a major outage. Worst we had here was a week during Charlie. That was enough. Also, no water because it is pumped electrically. I hate flushing with pool water. Your snow photos are truly beautiful. You are one of those rare people who are okay on their own. I think I'm one of them too, psychologically anyway. I'd have trouble doing repairs on my own.
I'm going to try again with the Ted Cruz piece. If it doesn't post, I'll e mail it to you. But you know when I persisted with this post, that very effort seemed to corrupt getting on to MyBloggers.
You have to post pix (if you can). I can't garden any more. I made a stab at it when we first got down here and got discouraged when the hurricanes ruined my efforts. Now I just get sick when I try (nausea, fatigue).
Very austere, much like the 30s.
You talk of being overwhelmed, but you always handle things just fine. I will admit the stress can be daunting.
Here's a thought. Before you begin, slather your hands in hand lotion. It might make clean-up easier. Maybe even "wash" in lotion as you go, wiping off with paper towels. (an office memory, difficult boss observed me "washing" hands at desk with lotion and raised his eyebrows and I said, "I never get to go to the bathroom on this job."
Ed is dealing with a ward who is now falling all the time and is authorizing a move to long-term care. He stands between the bureaucracy and the wards and is doing good work. There is no end to the grief some later life issues can heap on you. Sorry Linda has to endure this.
