I spent inauguration day totally avoiding the event and news programs that would highlight it. In the evening, Ed and I drove to a new Polish restaurant for dinner. The car radio was on NPR and I can tolerate hearing about the event, but cannot for a nanosecond listen to Trump at all, and they started broadcasting his speech, and I shut it off. The dinner was excellent. I ordered lamb osso bucco, a first. The meat was so tender it just fell off the bone.
I spent most of today writing responses to Trump supporter comments on Facebook who think the demonstrators should “grow up.†All of these people have memory loss of massive proportions because they have forgotten the infantile and vicious crowd behavior at Trump rallies. If growing up means normalizing a bloated fascist with a toxic agenda, count me out. And, yes, I think he talks and acts like Mussolini, who I remember.
The other things I did today was 30 minutes at a 2 ½ mile speed setting with a 2% incline on the treadmill, and later a 40 minute bike ride. The treadmill is in the bedroom and I watch the TV in there, otherwise it would be sheer boredom.
Solveige came over about 5 today, and Ed helped her with a paper she had to do for her nursing course, and then I got it and helped her with the sentence structure. I made spinach pasta for us, using a commercial red sauce -- I add sautéed onions, mushrooms, canned clams, and small shrimp to the sauce. It’s pretty good. Sol said it was better than at a restaurant.
I also listened to Sol’s boyfriend woes, but I don’t mind, and if I may say it (as shouldn’t), am full of wise counsel.
xx, Teal
