Okay, let me get all the hexed vexed and discombobulated stuff off my chest in one fell swoop. In amongst all the other annoying aggravating and downright hurtful things that have happened lately, here came another.
One night at midnight as I was getting ready to go to bed, I smelled smoke so strongly it alarmed me. I checked the house out and everything was okay. But when I opened the back door, the odor of smoke was overpowering and seemed to be coming from my neighbor's place down the road. So I haul ass off in the car to drive down there to check it out.
Strata of thick smoke was layered over the house. During the day the neighbor had been burning off debris from new ground he was clearing. That night a weather front was moving in and a weather phenomena called inversion was in play, and stacked that unmoving thick blanket of smoke over his place. I could see they were up and aware of the smoke, so I went back home.
As I was driving to and from this excursion, I noticed a beam of light up in the top of some very tall pine trees. It was only when I put my headlight beams on "High" that this happened, and it was only the left headlight. That cockeyed headlight was throwing a beam of light way up into the trees. So I took it to a repairman who adjusted some bolt under the hood next to the light. That night, tried out the headlight--still a beam in the trees.
Went back to him and got my money back.
Then I took my Honda to the Honda dealership. They said "This light has been adjusted. There's nothing wrong with it." I said then why is a beam of light going up in the trees? The right headlight doesn't do it, just the left one. The service manager said "Well tell me what you want done to it and I'll do it." I say I come to you like a car doctor--I tell you the symptoms, and you're supposed to give me a diagnosis and fix it. He was short with me and said snappishly "Just get in the car and drive it!"
Next day I called to owner of the dealership (I was in the throes of the worst cold in 12 years and and in a croaky voice) and complained about the service manager. The owner said "But he's been with me for years!" What the F*** does that have to do with anything?
What happened to the customer is always right? To customer service period? Customer service is DEAD.
I reckon that when I drive at night, I'll have to get used to shooting a beam of light in the sky when the High beam is on.
