When I was getting ready for work this morning, there were helicopters gathering outside. When I was ready, Dolly and I went out in the driveway to check it out. By that point, there were five of them hovering over downtown.
So far, there is only a brief news story about the reason. A pickup truck was struck by a (commuter) train at 9th Ave and dragged to 5th Ave as the train finished stopping. All of the railroad crossings have cross bars, flashing red lights, and bells, which were working according to the news report. The train blares its horn through downtown. It was dark at the time of the accident, but the train has these bright headlights and one of them scans from side to side. At that crossing, you can see about a half mile down the tracks in the direction that train was approaching. It's inconceivable, in the sense of "The Princess Bride", how a vehicle would be on the tracks when the train is coming through.
Vizzini: HE DIDN'T FALL? INCONCEIVABLE.
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
