Tea & Coffee

I AM a tea drinker. Hot tea. Cold tea. On and off, all day. About twice a week, I’ll grind some beans & brew a pot of coffee for a change.

The morning begins with two cups of hot black tea, usually Stash English Breakfast followed by something a little more exotic. Cold tea I keep brewed and in a pitcher in the ‘fridge. I have limes to squeeze into the iced tea.

Sometimes, with coffee, I’ll drink a cup hot then put the remainder in the ‘fridge to have iced coffee in the afternoon. Or, if it’s afternoon when I brew the coffee, I add a bit of Bailey’s Irish Cream for, uh, drama.

Most evenings I end the day with hot herbal tea, since that’s not caffeinated. Right now I’ve got a cup of Tazo “Passion.” The ingredients include hibiscus flowers, natural tropical flavors, citric acid, licorice root, orange peel, cinnamon, rose hips, lemongrass, & fruit juice extract for color. The tea is the color of watered-down blood. Tazo has a “sweet wild orange” that’s great too.

Tomorrow (Saturday) morning, we’re off to Costco to spend an uncomfortable amount of money on groceries, plus TIRES for my truck. I expect to be depressed about the cost for several days. My coffee with the booster will probably increase briefly. Have a great weekend, guys.

Comments:

When I was a kid, adults talked about coffee like it was a drug ("I wish I had never become hooked"). As a result, I avoided it until I was about 45. My first cup I hated, although I have always liked coffee ice cream. I have since discovered the joys of a Frappucino, although I limit myself to two a week.

I really like that Tazo tea - it has so much flavor, makes the other brands seem wimpy.

I like to brew Luzianne for iced tea.

My first and only cup of coffee in the morning is a joy and a life-saver. And I make a really good brew. Tea, ho hum. I force myself sometimes because it's supposed to be good for you but I prefer tea with caffeine. Elsewise, why bother? I always put milk in it, European style. If I have a slice of bread with peanut butter with it, that means I don't need sugar. Coffee coffee coffee. Yes.

I usually drink black tea 'cause it has the most caffeine.

Iced tea is my choice of beverage for every supper. Boil water, toss in tea leaves (hard to find anymore), steep for a couple of hours. Voila. Lasts for 3-4 days. Tea leaves are a mix of black and green.

I tried loose tea but it's such a pain. Tea bags are so much easier.

I have a great recipe for iced coffee that could benefit from Irish Cream.

Some days just call for iced instead of hot.

I think liking iced coffee is a developed taste. I've always liked it.
