On Voting Absentee

For the past several years, I've gone to the county court house prior to election day to vote "absentee". I can avoid long lines and do it at my convenience.

Yesterday, I went up to the ladies at the desk, showed my driver's license (required in Indiana), gave her my name and address, and watched her type in the information. To my chagrin, I was not listed. She tried again. Nothing.

"Are you registered, Mr. Smith?" Yes--been doing this for years. "Is this the correct address?" Yes--been there for 31 years. "With what party are you registered?", she asked. Does it matter?, I replied. "Well, not really, but sometimes we don't receive the information". I showed her my registration card. She tried again. Nothing.

By now, I was getting panicky and irritated. What do I do?, I asked. "I don't know, but you can't vote". By this time, a line was forming behind me. I live in a very rural (backward) county, 70% of which votes Republican. We NEVER have Democrats elected. So I'm thinking conspiracy.

I politely asked her to try one more time. She sighed and reluctantly typed in my vitals. VOILA! Up my name popped! I was there all along. Once in the voting booth, I proudly voted for Obama/Biden! Now I wonder if my vote will somehow be erased.(Oh My)

"And how can you possibly know what kind of presidents either Mr. Gore or Mr. Kerry would have been? Talk about a closed mind. I'm done conversing with you" Dont spoil your energy R.

I'm close-minded? You don't agree with me so that makes me close-minded? You're going to shut me off and I'm the one who's close-minded? C'mon Soli, I'm willing to talk to you aren't I?

I did not say anything about the kinds of Presidents Gore and Kerry would have made. Only that the majority of voters thought the best choice of these three losers was Bush. Things are only going to get much much worse after this election because if McCain gets in Congress and the media will not allow him to govern effectively. And if Obama gets in congress and the media will give him a free hand to radicalize everything.

What is your view on living under Socialism or Communism? Think you're going to like it?

Hey Randi, you didn't understand think141. Read my reply to him and that explains it.

Bush's presidency has yet to be put into historical perspective. Leftist media has distorted the real person. Anyone could have predicted chaos for this administration had they foreseen 911 and media's radicalism.
The real question is what would have been different if MyBloggers Gore or Creepy Kerry had been elected. Those were America's choices. How can you blame us for choosing Bush? Twice.

I was sorry to hear that you had voted early. Given another week or so you might have seen through the sham-man. I'm afraid the pride you took in voting for this evil person will turn to shame when you discover what he really is.
I wish you good luck. I wish us all good luck.

No telling what will happen to votes all over the country in this election. I think there is going to be a lot of voting problems as in hanging chads.

What did she do wrong the first 50 times??

Glad they found you and glad you got to vote!!

This is indeed scary and I'm glad you persisted. Some would have walked away, daunted. Republicans don't seem to win elections without voter fraud. This is something that must be investigated.

Why would it be erased? You voted Obama/Biden.
