First Snow

We had our first "track a cat" snow last evening. Yesterday was the 26th (Nov). If the old wive's tale hold true, we'll have 26 snows this winter.

Yeah, right. Last year, 22 snows were "predicted". We had only 5 in what turned out to be the warmest winter I can remember.
If you recall, the ground never froze, and my kid's house got stuck in the mud as they tried to move it across a field. The ground is already frozen now! It just may turn out to be a miserable winter--unless you like snow and cold.

Yesterday, I had to take my chainsaw in for some new parts, oil, etc. I think I'm good to go.

While in town, I stopped to see my father and sister. Dad is okay, although he laments not having a car anymore. It's tough convincing him he's too old to drive (95 in March).

My sister, on the other hand, is not okay. She has breast cancer and will have a mastectomy in Dec. Then comes the chemo. Dang. But, she's upbeat about conquering it. My mother died of another kind of cancer and my dad and other sister has skin cancer. So far, I'm good (although I was misdiagnosed as having colon cancer nearly 10 years ago).

Later, gater.

Thanks. What's new with you?

How sad for your sister. At least given her state of mind, she will recover although the chemo can be draining.

I'm hoping she'll be recovered enough to go to Florida with me in Feb. Doubtful, but who knows.

Thanks for the good wishes. Sis is a tough bird, but so was my mother. One never knows.

I am sending good thoughts and wishes your sister's way. There is hope. I am a 24 year survivor.

Great for you! She's kept pretty mum about it. Doesn't want to hear others' stories.

26 snows!!! Maybe you should get a pair of cross country skis.

When it snows, I stay home! Two years ago, I didn't venture out for 14 days.

Sending care and support to your sister....

Thanks. I'll pass it on, although she wants no sympathy.

Misdiagnosed? How scary... I am glad it was false though.
I don't want a mild winter because I want the bugs to die but I also am not a fan of snow all winter long. A nice mix perhaps?

Two snows is enough--one at Christmas and one in March when it'll melt quickly! Yeah, I was cut open from stem to stern which wiped out a summer. I'm still angry over it.

I guess global warming doesn't translate into milder winters, huh?

I suppose it depends on where one lives and what year we're talking about. I'm sure your snows are prettier than ours--scenery wise.
