Shorty

I only have time for a quick post.
I'm picking up my neighbor boy (age 15) to caddy for me. He's been looking for a summer job, so I offered him something to do if he was interested. He's never even set foot on a golf course.
I'm thinking some long range ideas for him. There's a scholarship offered for caddies (called the Evans Scholarship), but, of course, one has to have caddied. With carts used nowadays, there's not much caddying going on.

He's a nice young man with initiative, so we'll see how it goes. It's a beautiful day for golf--or anything else. My muscles are sore from shoveling cow manure in and out of my truck for my garden. It came from a neighbor. Hope I can swing a golf club.

That's all for now. Enjoy the day.

How funny. He has not caddied for you even once and you are already thinking of a caddy scholarship? Carts? Horses?

My son caddied when he was a youngster. All the golfers around here drive carts now. I have heard of that scholarship. It is a good one.

He did a commendable job--very conscientious. I was teased a lot by fellow golfers, but all in good fun.

Short, but lovable!

I assume you mean it came from your neighbor's cows.... anyway, have a great day. I have to mow in 52 degrees and cloudy.

Yeah. My neighbor has shorthorns. This manure was under cover, so it had dried and was not too heavy.

Nice!
In the last 3 days, I've had 2 stray animals appear in my yard. First, a huge very friendly well trained dog. The kids even played with him, but we had animal control pick it up. Then, I found a goat in with the horses! The horses love the goat. I have it tethered in the back yard, but I really don't have the fencing to keep a goat (and keep it out of the garden!)

A goat in the garden would spell more disaster than a mole! Which, by the way, I "caught" two of yesterday (plus a baby raccoon). Moles have all but ruined my sweet corn with their tunneling. I tromped and waited patiently for movement. THEN!!!!! Wonder where your goat came from?

I'd like to walk you through the process of adding pictures to your posts. You sounded frustrated about it in a previous post. You can private message me if you're interested.

I've been "walked through" before. It never seems to work. I need a "sit down beside me" person. Jon resized the photos already, but I haven't tried to add them yet. Thanks for the offer.

It's nice you are giving this kid a leg up. I am not sure fresh veggies are enough of an incentive to make up for the shoveling of cow manure. Or any of the other work involved. City kid here.

We (the boy, not the manure) had a good time.
