A No Politics Post

I'm up to my eyeballs with politics, so I will make no mention of it today.

I changed my avatar yesterday, but was surprised (or maybe not) the same old Studebaker one was there--and I've NEVER uploaded it as my avatar! What's going on? Halloween is over.

I finally got outdoors yesterday (warmer and less windy) to finish off my brick driveway. It came down to me having one brick leftover! Pretty amazing. Unless, of course, I want to go another 60 feet to the road! Not going to happen. (see incomplete brick drive in my photo album.)

It's warm enough for me to play some golf this PM. Low 50's, but sunny. I may even crank up the chain saw and do some wood cutting this weekend. I still have a massive amount of yard and garden work to complete.

They have finally ceased delivery of my local newspaper. I decided not to renew way when due last July, but they kept on giving me one--and billing me. Everything I need is here on the internet, including sudoku! I will miss only the crossword. Puzzle books are cheap.

Being stuck indoors all week has afforded me the time to cook/bake/prepare a little more intensively. Meatloaf, casseroles, bread, desserts, etc. And pears. I've made pear sauce by the gallons. And my two dehydrators are running full time. Dehydrated pears taste like candy. My hickory and walnuts are drying out and will soon be ready to crack. (I cracked some two weeks ago and they molded.)

One last thing: I suffered through a long wait for my free taco Tuesday when Taco Bell offered one per customer as a World Series promotion (stolen base). High school had just let out, and the place was swamped with students(the power of twitter)! The nacho cheese taco shell was disgusting. They didn't win me over.
Besides, I felt guilty eating "bad food". Back to my carrots and kale--rabbit food.

Later. Have a good weekend.
Randy

I see your new avatar! You, your daughter (?) and grand baby? I spend way too much time on the Internet!

I'm still getting the Studebaker! Mystery of mysteries.

I could really learn SO MUCH from you... I am tempted to take a canning class... or learn how to make sauces... then again it seems like so much work... but SO much better for me!

Well, thanks--I think. I hope I don't sound like I'm bragging. I don't can anymore, after a jar exploded on me. Just dehydrate and freeze.

looked at your pix -- great looking house and grounds. I look forward to the paper, not the least because I LOVE the comics, and I like the lovelorn columns nd I write back to columnists who annoy me and tear them limb from limb. What else is retirement for? Lots of time to fulm.

Except for a couple, I see little humor in the comics. And I NEVER read the advice columns. Plus, it makes me mad they continue to perpetuate the myth of astrology. I want meat in my newspaper! I did write a letter to the editor last month regarding Bill Nye and evolution.

I'M WITH STEVE looked at your photos great looking family you have there --never seen a red brick silo before sure would last a long time
comment by kevinshere on Nov 2, 2012 10:37 PM ()
Trees block my view of the silo. The owner (my neighbor) spent a fortune restoring it--and for no reason other than it looks neat. There used to be a barn around it! And thanks for the nice words. I am proud of my kids. I had to raise them by myself, after their mother left us.

You should not feel guilty eating bad food.Tacos are great and do not consider bad.
If you have problems eating bad then you have a problem.Go and eat your carrots bug.

I figure every once in awhile, "bad" food won't hurt me. Remember, I'm odder than the average duck. Hence, my "problem", as you call it. Otherwise, I'm perfect!

To heck with the yard work. Play golf!

Now you're talking! Pleasure before work is my motto. Yours too?

If you like word games, have you thought about playing Words with Friends? It is similar to Scrabble online. i need to warn you that it is addictive to some.
I am going round and round with Oprah the Magazine. They tell me I owe for a two year renewal; I say I only renewed for one year and paid already. We shall see who wins.

Words with friends was feature on Big Bang Theory with Sheldon playing Steven Hawkings. Funny. I've decided everybody is out to fleece us "publicans". My propane company tries to charge me "tank rental" every year. I refuse to pay, they don't push it. Same with the newspaper. I do pay all my other bills.

I'll have plenty of time to read this winter. Remember the ant and grasshopper.
