Wednesday greetings.
Woke up this morning to oatmeal with blueberries and my letter to the editor published (finally). You can access it via: jconline.com, under opinions. They have today's date wrong--it's the 3rd, not the 4th.
The weather around here has been fairly miserable. I golfed in 55 degree drizzle yest. I'm mad. Took me all evening to warm up. And yes, I'm headed out for more punishment in a bit.
Dug up my sweet potatoes earlier than normal because the voles were eating them up. Grrr. Next year I'm planting twice as many. Voles don't touch regular potatoes. Not sweet enough. My cabbages all burst open, so I made two batches of slaw to freeze. All ingredients were sliced up by hand (since my sister threw away my "slicer/dicer" machine when she lived with me). I need to buy one. Recommendations?
I see the Chicago Cubs have lost over 100 games this year. So much for a new manager. What losers.
Enjoyed a Chopped episode (Food Ch.) last night with 4 teenagers competing, one only 13 yrs old. They put my efforts to shame. Holy cow!
I'm taking my father with me to some Edward Jones presentation on stocks tonight. Free meal--that's the only reason we're going! If we're lucky, it'll last into the "big debate", and I won't be tempted to watch it. But Dad will get antsy and want to leave early, which if fine with me. He'll make a good excuse for us to exit!
That's all for this episode. Thanks for tuning in.
