Marching Forward

Okay. So already this month, we've had tornadoes, snow, wind, cold, and today, up near 60. This is the wild, roller coaster month of March.

Nonetheless, it's one of my favorite months. Maybe it's because my birthday is in it. But that's not the reason I like it.

For one thing, winter is coming to an end! The long dark days are over. The drudgery of exercising in my dreary basement is alternating with walking and running outside. It all depends on the weather.

And, of course, things are greening up! And popping up! Thankfully, I no longer suffer from Spring allergies. I used to be miserable, but have "outgrown" them. They were once so bad, I was classified 4F for military service. I don't know what happened to my resistance as I grew older. But I'm grateful.

March means getting the garden prepared, yard rolled, trees pruned. I can pull out the lawn chair and "sit a spell", listening to the birds. And maybe, just maybe, I can toss the old golf clubs in the back of the truck and hit the links!

Yep, it's rejuvenation time back home in Indiana.
Have a good one.

And freak heavy snow fall season.

Glad to see daylight savings time return. I love the sunrise, and rise early, but have missed my late afternoon walks, so like it getting lighter later in the day. Don't like to walk by myself in the dusk on the roadways; no sidewalks in my neighborhood. Hope to go crocus hunting this week at the botanical garden. Have to see what's budding!

Hi Marta. I got to dig in the dirt (literally) the past two days. Doing some sod bustin' around the garden perimeter. Now that you mention it, an "extra hour" of daylight WILL allow me to walk outside after supper. Sunsets are just as nice as sunrises!

You are not the first person to tell me this. I guess I looooove that my schedule gets me up around 8 or later.

Almost 70 here today. Very windy. So far March is like a lion. Did the house get settled?

The house is "in place"!!! They have to lay the concrete blocks, then remove the I-beams it's sitting on. Almost time to celebrate!

Your spring reminds me of northern springs. You never knew if you would have a good day or if a unusual blizzard would hit. So get out there and swing that club.

Yes, you gotta be prepared for just about any type of weather around here. I try not to think about your fine year around weather!

The sun has been shining lately. Went for a walk yesterday and will go again today, even though it's still bloody cold out there.

We're having 40 mph winds on every warm day we get. Difficult to walk upright! And I hate golfing in the wind.

YAY Spring! I love Daffodils this time of year the best
comment by hennaladykim on Mar 6, 2012 12:23 PM ()
Yeah, I have daffodils coming up. Crocuses have bloomed two weeks early. Sign of global warming or just an early Spring? Hmmm.

Hey, Buddy. As long as my father is still alive, we celebrate HIS birthday, which is one day after mine. He gets the glory. I'm just the "by the way, happy birthday Randy". I'm used to it!

Gotta love your bday month!
I looooove it when the days are longer and warmer, it's like a depression lifting or something!

Trouble is, daylight savings time starts Sunday. That means it'll be dark again when I awake. Boo hiss.

I went for bloodwork yesterday at the local hospital (think country) and of course, every time you talk to a provider, it's "name and date of birth?" So I said to the receptionist at check-in "3/16/53". "Oh... that's my daughter's birthday, different year." Then we go to the blood people. Donna and I were both having blood drawn so we went in together. Donna is usually the difficult one, but yesterday it was me. So the second phlebotomist ask the DOB thing... "Oh, that's my daughter's birthday, she'll be 7". Donna's son and daughter are both born in March, I'm thinking WTF? Is half the population Pisces? Probably not, but it might make for a better world.

Since I was born "late", my mother always claimed I should have been a Pisces. Fits my personality better--or so she claimed. I don't put much stock in astrology!

It must be so. My sister is a Pisces and I am an Aries as is Adrienne. We
couldn't have picked a more blustery month.
