I'm just about finished reading Jimmy Carter's "An Hour Before Daylight", an autobiography of our former president's childhood. It's an interesting insight into life on a Georgia farm and the events that shaped Carter's adult life.
I remember how hopeful and elated I was when he was elected president. I just knew he was an honest and intelligent politician, a rare combination.
I think he's gotten a bad rap over the years, mostly due to his "malaise" speech (in which he spoke the truth). I won't review all of Carter's accomplishments while president, but there were many.
Many other good presidents came from humble beginnings--Lincoln, Grant, Truman, Clinton, and even Obama. They knew what it was like to be poor (a 47%er!).
His childhood life brought back many memories for me. It makes me want to write about mine, however UNmemorable they were!
Cindi Lauper was on Anderson Live plugging her new book. According to her, every one of us has a book inside us. We have all had interesting things happen to us along the way.
