Well, we did it! All 12,000 strawberry plants are in the ground. It took us two days--about 8 hours.
I was the tractor driver, as two guys sat low to the ground and plopped the plants into the drilled plastic sheet holes (with water added). We had all sorts of problems, but basically, it went fine.
They should be ready to produce in June of next year. By that time, my daughter, SIL, and two grandchildren will be settled into their renovated home (the one moved last Feb.).
Not only did I help plant strawberries, I picked green beans and raspberries all last Friday. Then I watched the grandkids yesterday PM. I haven't had time to play golf, horrors of horrors!
But it's all worthwhile. My 9 day old granddaughter is so precious. I just love babies. Her nearly 3 year old brother is feeling somewhat ignored, so I tried to give him special attention. Once they get moved (and be 5 minutes away) , I'll be able to play with him more.
Today I'm off to grocery shop and pick up a drive belt for my rototiller. A visit with my father and sister(s) is on the agenda, too. If I ever get my lawn tractor back from the "shop", I'll mow the lawn. The chimney sweep guys cleaned out my wood burner and chimney yesterday. $174. Ugh.
That's all. Later.
