Not Done Yet!

I know you're probably sick of me in my "serious" mode, but I have more to say on "the way things are" in the U.S.
Two more "installments", including this one, a "catch-all.

What else is wrong with America? Plenty, if you ask me.

Our education system stinks. (This coming from an ex public school teacher.) How can we say otherwise when our students rank at the bottom of most world "exams", or when they flunk simple questionaires? I heard one adult say on TV that he thought Paul Revere rode his horse during WWII !!! He didn't know why he was riding a horse.

You've heard the saying, "You'll always get what you've always got if you always do what you've always done." Well, that's it in a nutshell. Our educational system needs a drastic overhaul, period. I'm just starting a book, "Waiting For Superman", about our schools. I'll let you know what suggestions the author makes.

They may or may not be related to education, but the United States has major problems with drug use and abuse.

Our overall health is an issue--we eat, smoke and drink too much (and not exercise enough). We're a nation of Pillsbury doughboys (and tee hee about it).

Poverty is all around us, whether it's a result of a poor economy (unemployment) or low wages or mismanaging money . The rich get richer, the poor poorer, the "middle class" sinking deeper in debt. Foreclosures, credit card insolvency, inflation, no savings--all problems many Americans experience.

We have bizarre gun laws, oppose population control, restrict and pick on immigrants, bash gay people, are religiously intolerant, commit countless crimes, and believe Rush Limbaugh is a god.

Now, the question is, what do we do about it all? Stay tuned.

Most of the world is uninformed. The U.S. it would seem is sometimes more so. Not encouraging.

Animal rights are related to cruelty and we are becoming cruel and callous.
Believe me..psychosis starts with torturing animals in childhood. If I ever see a child do that, I will have a serious talk with their parents.
As to the other issues each person just does what he can. You can talk
to one of your children until you are blue in the face but they don't
always listen. I blame celebrity and political life styles for a lot
of our moral decay.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Please don't blame us non-Christians!

To show how nuts they are, Ohio politicians just passed a law allowing one to carry a concealed weapon (if you have a permit) into a bar or restaurant. That will seriously cut down on my drinking, believe me.

Haven't I seen in old Westerns where cowboys had to relinquish their weapons before entering a bar? Oh for the good old days!

I loved the one on Paul Revere that is funny.
Think that the generation of today fit this.
Ours are pretty lame back.I think.
What do we do about this.Well first that is their problem on how they live.
They chose to lived this way.Not all but some.
Eat,drink or smoke too much comes from our wonderful world of TV ads.
People see all these ads on TV and have some of the obnoxious people doing
all those stupid ads.We will always have this problem and it is going to get worse. Why,we are or they are lazy, playing with their toys etc.
Not sure what the answer is.
I do not envious the new generation at this point. But then think about the people in the earlier years and what did they think of us.Our generation.
We try to help all of these people, but they cannot be helped for they do not want to.Oh!better shut up.Waiting for the next installment.
Did you by any chance see "Waiting for Superman"movie?

I appreciate your viewpoint, Fredo. Every generation laments the younger generation. So it goes. And no, I haven't seen the movie--just clips.

I think people pick a cause and do what they can about it... that's what I do anyways, for the plight of animals...

Animal rights is an issue for certain, but I don't think it measures up to war, the economy, etc. Nonetheless, good for you!
