Paying off Debt

A few years ago, I was embattled in some lawsuits with my ex-husband and in case you're unaware of this...

Lawyers aren't cheap.

We racked up quite a bit of debt. (We won all three lawsuits, so it was worth it)

That same year, my oldest daughter had some medical procedures and co-pays that weren't covered by our health insurance. These costs were worse than the attorney fees.

More and more debt.

I am happy to report that the last payment of $444.00 for a $23,000.00 debt has just been paid. It took 5 years to pay off.

I'm going shopping. (Just Kidding!)

My divorce cost much less than that, but I can relate to the relief of sending that last check to the lawyers. Phew! Congrats for sticking to a plan and following to the end. That speaks volumes for your character and could be a huge lesson for your kids.

Good for you! I wish I could say that here. Divorce nearly killed me. Many people have counseled me to file bankruptcy but I refuse. Besides, bankruptcy isn't a clean restart anymore. I will probably be paying off debts for the rest of my life.
