Dawning

I woke up from a dead sleep in the middle of the night. Unlike 12:00am that officially divides one day from the next, it has always been the brink of 2:30am for me, that which separates yesterday from today. This time, I didn't fight being awake. Because the familiar whirl of the ceiling fan blades sounded more like the waves of an ocean. And the wind chimes hanging just outside my bedroom window demanded that I hear their jingling jig. And the breeze blowing in didn't match the season. So I quietly laid there long enough... until I heard yesterday turn into today.

Fredo, it's never so bad that I actually get out of bed, YET... Luckily I fall asleep eventually, but miss sleeping through the night.

Lovely sentiment. I wish we could keep our windows open when the weather permits, but I have been warned the humidity, whether or not one feels it, it's there -- is a destroyer of pianos.

I'm finding that as I get older, sleeping through the night is not as easy as it once was... better spend the time awake well.
