If it doesn't come soon
I will give the government heck
I am but a simple tax payer
All I want is my check.
Take a vacation, pay some bills
Maybe for a start
But more likely I'll blow it all
On a shopping trip to Wal-Mart.
The government is trying to make us
happy
They say we should be glad
By getting a check from Uncle Sam
At Uncle Dubya we won't be so mad.
One trip to the gas station
Maybe one to the store
In these times now
I don't think you'll be able to do
much more.
What do with my windfall
The thoughts go through my head
Maybe for the cardboard box I live in
I'll be able to buy a futon bed.
This little poem I wrote
Was written mostly in jest
I know our government
And their intentions are the best.
But with gas so expensive
To work now I must ride a bike
I am waiting for next year
When they hit us with a tax hike.
