It's Tuesday and we've had a pretty fair amount of melt-off here, the temps were in the high 40's for a couple of days plus we had a good rain. The only bad part of melt-offs are that you see all the garbage that was buried under the snow, and it's a constant reminder of how much work lies ahead when it gets warmer. It's going to have to get much warmer before I will go outside for any length of time, as time has passed I have become less tolerant of the cold weather. As I was watching the news the other night I find it disheartening that "tent cities" are popping up all over this country, and a large reason is that the shelters are full to capacity. I remember reading in social study class about the shanty towns that sprung up during the great depression, they use to call them "Hoovervilles". So with these tent cities we have going up now what shall we call them?? Well my vote would be calling them Bush Bungalows, which I would find very apt. With this though it reminds me of how good I have it, I'm not rich but I have a job, a home, and I am surrounded by friends and family. Money is nice to have but if you look at life in the bigger picture there are people that have it a lot worse then we do. When people complain about the little things that life dumps on them they should remember the tent cities and how fortunate we are to have what we do. There are people that are trying to help these people, giving them a hot meal and there is a dry cleaner in DE I think that is offering free dry cleaning for those who need to have nice clothing for job interviews. I think if we are going to get through these hard times we have to pull as one, going in separate directions is not an option now. Well my soapbox time is now over..later.
