The State of Where We Are
During the election process the Democrats portrayed the Republicans as an evil empire, not worthy of our trust..and certainly not worthy of serving us anymore. The Democrats based their campaign on change, sweeping change that was to return this country to it's former greatness. Well like a lot of Americans who took stock in this message I have to ask..what happened?? You still have mounting unemployment, with people losing their jobs at a record pace. Inflation is still climbing, with no end in sight. The war being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan show no signs of coming to an end, in fact the head of operations in Afghanistan wants more troops, or in his words our battle against the insurgents will become a battle we cannot win. I am not a naive person, I understand that the former administration left us in a hole with no possible way to get out. But their comes a point in time where you have to stop blaming your predecessors and stand on your own two feet, and say "this is my problem and I need to take care of it". Before anyone gets the idea I am railing against the democrats I'm not, I voted for President Obama because I thought this country needed a change. I had no confidence in the team of McCain/Palin ticket, and I still think I made the right choice..especially after listening to Palin spout off about "death panels". We as Americans are not a patient lot, we want change..ten minutes ago. I know it's going to be a long road back..but I would like to see some glimmer of hope, something to tell me I made the right choice.
