The man sat upon the bridge
One that he had not yet burned
Reflected on his life
And the lessons he had learned.
He learned not to be so critical
Things can be done in more then one way
That patience is indeed a virtue
And certainly Rome was not built in a day.
He learned the power of words
And how they can hurt and cause pain
But though he learned that long ago
He kept making that mistake over and over
again.
He learned life was fleeting
Chances given must be taken
He thought he'd have her for forever
But he was sadly mistaken.
He learned there was a time to hang on
A time to let go
And hopefully have the wisdom
For the difference he would know.
He stared into the sky
Watched an eagle take flight
And realized in his heart
That he didn't always need to be right.
He wasn't who was years ago
That he now could see
But he felt better about that
For now he didn't need to be.
