A Perspective for a Tuesday Morning
A Perspective for a Tuesday Morning
Blogsterella wrote a very interesting post today, and I posted my comment to it. It got me to thinking about aspects in my life, which I'd like to share this morning with all of you. I watch (and read)the news on a daily basis, I like to keep informed about the world in which we inhabit. There isn't a lot of good news to had lately, in fact it can get a little depressing sometimes. Whether it be businesses closing, people out of work, the stock market falling, or the violence exhibited between people...the news has just been bad. But NBC news, for the last couple of months has been featuring stories (sent in by viewers) of random acts of kindness in these rough economic times. These are people that expect nothing in return, and they're not trying to fix the entire world..just their little corner of it. I think that is where we need to start, we need to look how we can help..nothing large..nothing huge. Just some little token(or gesture)to someone who needs it could go a long way. Now on to my original thought, it's about need versus desire. I look at my life and see what I have, family & friends(especially here at MyBloggers), a roof over my head, a job which I go to every day(after almost 3 years I still enjoy it), food on my table. So I have the basics, and to me that makes me content at where I am at now. I think people get confused when they mistake need for want, just because you want something doesn't always mean you need it. I think in about 95% of the cases what people want is just that..want, I don't think it's a matter of need at all. There are things that I want, I think we all do (especially after a trip to Wal-Mart). But if we look at it rationally it's something that we can live without, at least until we can afford it without feeling guilty for buying it. I think if we looked at our lives from this perspective we might discover that we could live happier, and more productive lives.
