I remember when
When I was just a boy
Happiness could be found
In a brand new toy.
The books we read
Lessons we learned
Adventure we found
In each page we would turned.
But this is today
The here and now
We want to know why
Not just the how.
Riding our bikes
Down the country lane
Life was simpler
There was no need to explain.
The saddness, the horror
And what is now seen
Wasn't real for us
It was on a movie screen.
The innocence we had
Is now in the past
And we were naive
To believe it would last.
But there is still joy
Pleasures to be found
As simple
As a fall leaf floating to the ground.
A winters day
Catching a flake of snow
Pleasures to be found
You just need to know where to go.
