Sitting on my front porch
Back and forth upon my swing
Waiting for the morning
And what the day will bring.
The rain is falling
Upon the roof quietly
The sun is rising
Silently from the sea.
The rain begins to slow
In the sky I see patches of blue
The grass glistens
Covered with the morning dew.
I listen to the sounds
Of a day starting to awake
A light breeze blows
Just frosting on the cake.
People walk by
And some even wave
They don't understand
The simple happiness they gave.
I count the blessings in my life
And not the regrets
I'd rather love thy neighbor
Forgive and forget.
There is peace in a blue sky
A breeze over a field of corn
Or just sitting on my front porch
Watching the coming of the morn.
