Living the Liberal Life in a Redneck State

Quote of the Day

"I think having a moratorium on new
federal regulations is a great idea
    - it sends a wonderful signal to the
private sector that they're going to
run f***king wild like BP did..."

    -- the Boner,    Link

In response to House Minority Leader John Boehner's (R-OH) suggestion that we need a year's moratorium on all regulations to give the American people some "breathing room." Now, tell me again, Senator Boehner, "Just WHO gets breathing room.
Sure sounds a lot like the fat cats who line your pockets would be the ones getting the so-called breathing room.

jd, I would suggest that you people in Ohio could surely elect someone with more sense than that were it not for the fact that Oklahoma has two of the dumbest senators ever to grace the hallowed halls of D. C.
At least we have an excuse; most of the rest of the nation think we're a bunch of uneducated hicks anyway.  What's Ohio's excuse, I wonder?

"In the political marketplace, there's now a run on Obama shares. The Left is disappointed  with the president. Independents are abandoning him in droves. And the Right is already
dancing on his political grave, salivating about November, when Gibbs admitted Democrats might lose the House. I have a warning for Republicans: Don’t underestimate Barack Obama...
Obama is down, but it’s very early in the play. Like Reagan, he came here to do things. And he’s   done much in his first 500 days. What he has left to do, he knows, must await his next 500 days
 - those that come after reelection. So 2012 is the real prize. Obama sees far, farther than even   his own partisans. Republicans underestimate him at their peril."

      -- Charles Krauthammer    Link

Krauthamner is a conservative columnist who speaks for the Republicans in most of his material.

By the way Reagan's popularity dropped to 30% during his first term, and he also lost the mid-term elections.  So, what else is new?

I am so ashamed of our Senators. I am supporting Drew Edmondson for Gov.
He seems to be the quiet voice of reason. The Oklahoman which has such a
Republican voice is desperate for subscribers. They offered me a full
yearly subscription for l5.00.

I like Drew Edmondson also. He will get my vote; and I too am embarassed to have those two clowns representing our state.

Teabaggers. Everyone who drinks much tea knows that you don't use bags, you boil up tea with loose tea leaves. Harumph! So to make it legit let's call them "Loose Tea Baggers." LOL

I've quit watching Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow because I get so mad at Republicans and their "no" attitude (not to mention stupidity). Am I making sense?
comment by solitaire on July 21, 2010 11:06 AM ()
It does...and you are correct. They have no viable alternatives to anything. Their whole platform is predicated on just saying "NO" to anything the Democrats want to do. It is completely ludicrous that only a small handful will actually go against their peers and vote for what is good for the country. They rest of them are just sycophants and lackeys to the power brokers.

We didn't elect Boner, the creep from the Appalachian part of SE Ohio. They are rednecks down there. They send the worst to D.C. Don't blame me! Southeast Ohio might as well be part of deep Dixie.
comment by jondude on July 20, 2010 9:37 PM ()
They would fit right in with the fine folk in Southeastern Oklahoma, also rednecks to the core,. We have some in western and northwestern Oklahoma as well. If it were not for Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the Democrats would probably be non existent in OKC.

From time to time I write MSNBC a letter with my opinions -- they ignore me, of course. Recently I wrote them that we (center and left-center) are the new silent majority. We are not out there demonstrating and holding up offensive signs -- we are not making so much noise, but we vote too.

It's always the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

Hate Tea-Partiers (tea-baggers as Martin calls them) I think they are the genuine lunatic fringe.
comment by dragonflyby on July 20, 2010 7:11 PM ()
The reason Martin calls them "tea baggers" is because that's what they first called themselves. Then, when they discovered that "tea baggers" had a filthy connotation, they switched to "tea partiers." We call them "tea baggers" on Blogster just to get under their skin.

So do I. I put them in the same category as white supremacists, KKK, and just slightly below a terrorist level.

Good post.Loved the poster there.Girlie man Bush.
Mr.President is doing a great job here.He has much more than any one of them in the early years. He will be fine.Just wait. This is normal that his poll is low but not for long.Obama is the man and we loved him.
the others take a hike and please take the awful woman with you.
comment by fredo on July 20, 2010 4:02 PM ()
Thanks, Fredo! Obama is quietly and efficiently getting his agenda passed in spite of Palin and the rest of the naysayers and the Obama haters. Yes, he will be fine indeed.

I really think both sides will be disappointed in 2010, both will claim victory and the tea baggers will take the credit
comment by greatmartin on July 20, 2010 3:40 PM ()
It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. The Republicans will make some inroads but not nearly what they are predicting. The tea baggers will try to take the credit, no doubt about that.
