We have just been having glorious weather this week. Â Unlike December, when the wind blew almost every day, we have had very little wind since the New Year. Â With the exception of Monday, every day since the First has been absolutely beautiful.
Today the high will be 65 and tomorrow 69.  Then, we get back to reality Saturday with rain and the high only in the 50's.  It will be downhill from there as a cold front comes through, dropping us into the low 30's with wind chills in the teens.
We will still be about 10 degrees warmer than Oklahoma City, which will really get more of the brunt of the cold front than we. Â They may also have snow next week.
Speaking of snow, today is the birthday of my brother, who passed away in 2005. One of my earliest memories is of the January when he was born. Â I was four and my other brother was 13 months old.
Because my mother was already past her due date and we had bad weather coming in, she and my dad had gone into town to stay with her mother.
The day he was born, we got a blizzard. Â Our other grandmother was staying with us. Â We were snowed in. Â We couldn't even open the door because of the drifts. Â
In those days we had one gas stove in the living room, so Grandma Higgins put the baby bed in the living room and put us both in it near the stove to keep us warm.
Worried about us, my uncle came over on his Ford tractor. Â He shoveled the snow away from the door and rescued us. Â The two of them wrapped us in heavy quilts and we rode back to his house on the tractor.
I just thought that was the most excellent adventure of my life.
