Procrastination.

Hi, I am Rara, and I am a procrastinator.

I am not ashamed to admit it: I love to procrastinate. I think I have always been that way. I was probably born lazy. There's just something very enjoyable and satisfying about wasting time.

Granted, I can also get great pleasure out of working hard and getting things done. Sometimes. But that’s beside the point. The point of this little blog post is to proclaim why I am such a big procrastinator, and in case you are not, perhaps I can convince you why you should become one.

Every day there are so many things we should be doing. There is nothing I hate more than the word should or what it implies. Ok that is not true, the only thing I hate more than things I ought to be doing, is someone telling me what I should be doing.

I think have authority issues. Otherwise known as extreme stubbornness. I am happy to do just about anything, unless you tell me I have to do it. Silly, I know.

Anyways, it just feels really good to procrastinate when you should be doing other things. For example, write private emails, Greasing (you know what I mean), make to-do lists, or reorganize your DVD collection when you have to finish a paper or homework. Especially when a deadline is near. Of course, not when a deadline is too near. You do not want to be stupid.

Some people are incapable of doing nothing. They need everything they do to be useful. They are the kind of people who get up before nine on a Sunday morning, so they feel they do not waste their Sundays. Freaks. The way I see it, Sundays were invented for sleeping late. Oh, and walking around in your pyjamas all day or having DVD marathons.

Speaking of DVD marathons, I just love having DVD watching marathons! This usually involves the whole seasons of my favorite TV series (Six Feet Under, Grey's Anatomy, Arrested Development, Heroes). I don't watch TV that much, mostly because, well, school, and also here in Indonesia everything on TV (even the news) pretty much sucks, so I usually just buy my favorite series on DVDs and watch away at the weekends.

Oh where was I? Well like I said, I do not only enjoy procrastinating, I also love being a lazy git in general. It’s great, you should try it sometime!

Delightful post! I visited your blog because you are on the friends lists of a number of bloggers I like, and now I can see why. If you don't mind, I'll add you as my friend, too.

You should join Procrastinators Anonymous. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6PM, but usually no one shows up until 8:30...

I first heard that word in high school when it was applied to me by my English teacher. I think when we are not "doing" something, we are mulling something unconsciously around in our mind - which usually helps us do something better later - that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

Ah, I knew there was something that I loved about you! I like the way you think. I agree with ALL of it! And, I practice it all of the time!

I with you! I hate being told what I should do. Suggestions are fine, but not demands! I rarely procrastinate--I live too much by routine, making me a very dull person!
