Quick Post.
We were having this big gathering dinner with my International Club friends.. they all brought their families. I brought my cousin, Judy, with me.
You see, now, Judy is what people usually refer to as the "party-ruiner" or whatever, which left you wondering why I brought her with me in the first place. But I love her. She's taking her degree in Business in Australia, and she talks a lot. A hell lot. She just couldn't stand to say what she thinks-and for a lot of people it's a problem.
But what happened last night-gave me all the more reason to love her.
We sat in a table together with the Winklers-from Germany, and the Staams-from the Netherlands, and with some other families I couldn't remember. While we were eating, suddenly, one of the Staams said to Mr. Winkler.
"You killed Jews".
Just like that. You killed jews.
WTF???
Everybody including me, looked at each other uncomfortably, like somebody just burped or farted or something.
I couldn't think of anything to say! I mean, how could you respond to THAT??
But J could. She cleared her throat and said to Mr. Staam,
"Well, in that case, sir, 'you' killed my great grandpa".
My great grandpa was killed in a war during the Dutch occupancy in Indonesia.
And then J went on and on about how this Dutch general, Winterling or whatever, had trapped 40,000 people in a field and just shoot away. Well, maybe she got the dates wrong, but at that point who gives a blob whether it's January 11 or November 23?
I don't know what you think, but I think my cousin rocks.
