I don't know where to start!
These past few weeks have been wonderful for me.. I mean, I get to travel halfway across the world and meet many interesting people and make friends with them and get a silver medal in an international physics competition! Physics! And I'm not even that smart!
On the first day I arrived in Istanbul with my teammates Tiara and Ecky, and our physics teacher Mr. Saidov. We spent the night at one of our teacher's house (In Indonesia I go to a Turkish school). The following day we fled to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The first thing I noticed about this city is the weather! Oh the weather is lovely! I spent one week there and I fell in love with it. The competition starts on the third day and the announcement is on the fourth. Although a tiny little part of me is disappointed with the results I am quite happy to get silver medal, behind Romania, Ghana, and Turkey, who got gold. We spent the rest of the week on trips to other cities in Bosnia like Travnik and Mostar-the capital of Herzegovina.
I had the chance to meet and be friends with people from all parts of the world: from Turkey to Ghana, from Kazakhstan to Thailand. And I gotta say, it's really cool! I also met many Bosnian students and become good friends with them. They're all really nice and welcoming. We talked about a lot of things, mostly about the Bosnian war and they told me everything I hadn't known before.
Our last five days were spent in Istanbul, Turkey. We went to historical places like the Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar.
Though this may sound a bit exaggerated, I think I have changed a lot since then. It's been a great experience and it still amazes me that with only a little time together, we have developed a strong friendship and connection with many Bosnian people. I really love the country and am looking forward to go there again.
I hope this post doesn't sound like a sixth-grader's writing assignment? My English is very limited. Hehe.
