I soaked up as much of the Gulf of Mexico as I could and there seemed to be a lot of it left. I'll have to go try again!
My grandgirls and I were visiting the sea creatures' home and just floating along in the salt water when we saw a strange looking critter. It was nothing I had ever seen in all the times I've been soaking up salt water.
Eldest grandgirl is not afraid of much (genetic defect inherited via my DNA pool). She caught one in a large bowl that was used in making a sand castle. We were amazed at this thing that looked like a cross between a slug and a butterfly. It sent out a small purple stream as it swam around in the bowl. It looked harmless enough and seemed to be much more afraid of us than we were of it. We saw them in sizes ranging from about 1/2 inch to a span of probably 6 inches. I took a picture and made it my priority to look it up on the internet when we got home. (I took the laptop but was having so much fun I never took it out of the case!)
Here is a picture of the little Sea Hare (aka 'aplysia morio'):

Needless to say, we released our little friend back to the gulf waters where he sped off to join his family. I can just imagine the tale he told of his encounter with humans!
MzScarlett...back to the real world in body, still on vacation in my mind.
