The reinactment went off quite well. Mr. Cheney didn't shoot anyone with the cannon. HA! He didn't know it was loaded with a blank. His speach was quite impressive as he spoke about history and left the political mess out of his words. His granddaughter was with him. We were expecting betweet 3 - 5 thousand people. It was closer to 12,000. Not a motel room or cabin or even pup tent to be found within miles. Wish I had rented out a couple of bedrooms!
Nothing has changed in the situation with my brother. That is frustrating. Sit and wait. For almost 8 months...sit and wait. I don't do well with either one. I don't sit long and certainly am not patient with the waiting game.
Going back tp the Smoky Mtns. next week for five days. Got a cabin nestled in the hills where all is peaceful and quiet. Hubby and me and a spoiled chihuahua may not come out of the cabin. With a hot tub, cable TV and pool table...we are set. I've got some crafts in the making and will have time to just sit and work with my hands. I'm still debating on whether to carry the laptop.
There is a hint of Fall in the air. My fruit trees are just about finished for the year. Apples, peaches and pears were in abundance this year. I thought of putting up a sign: Free Fruit, pick your own. We (being mother-in-law and myself) have made pear and peach preserves, jelly and pies. Apple butter and applesause and apple pies. We have given it away as well as stored some up for those cold winter days when a hot biscuit just begs for a little topping of home-fixed preserves.
This weekend my beloved Georgia Dawgs will host the Alabama Crimson Tide in Athens. That will be a good game. I truly hope for a win, but if not...there is always next year. I don't get bent out of shape at the final score any more. There iis more to life than a sport score. Life goes on and there is not the promise of next year in that.
Yesterday was my yearly eyeball exam. The world sure looks bright when your eyes are dilated! I love my doctor. He says, "beautiful eyes, healthy eyes...see ya next year when you are 39 again". Too bad it is in poor taste to tip a good liar like him. I guess my insurance pays enough that I don't need to worry about that!
Gotta go fix my mother-in-law's cell phone. She called last night to inform me she had somehow erased all the numbers in her phone. What were we thinking to get her that cell phone??? She is 82 and quite the 'woman on the go'. We had to have some way to keep up with her! Oh well, she and I will go out to lunch and have a good time. Hubby owes me for this one. He sneaked off to work today.
Note to Buggs: When I told you I would put up a sign in my yard I didn't know it would cover my entire yard. "Buggs 4 the U.S.A" and your smiling face, holding an uzi in one hand and an olive leaf in the other is OK. The cammo bikini was a little much. The Elvismobile is ready to gas up. Know where there are any stations with fuel???
Mz Scarlett...having a ho-hum, ,yawn kind of day.
