Unavoidable Confrontation

The new fence was her idea. She chose the style. She hired the handyman. DH made the mistake of offering to pay for half of our side. Yesterday she was on her way over to demand payment when DH intercepted her and said he'd be right over with a cheque. I wonder if she noticed DH's eyes glaze over while she regaled him with tales of the tree guys perpetrating the wanton destruction of her pristine property. Today she's knocking on my door saying DH was $15.00 short on the cheque and that we also owe her an extra $18.00 for a brace the handyman needs to buy and install on our side of their fence. While she had me a captive audience she launched into her "whine and bitch" about the tree service guys of yesterday. I wondered if she had noticed my eyes glaze over when she said she was going home for a cup of tea. I do so wish I had the the guts to tell her to F*** Off!

That darn tree! You'll probably never hear the end of it.

I don't expect I will.
I suspect her husband gave DH the wrong amount or maybe DH deducted the cost of the stain he used on the wrong sections of fencing (She told him which ones to stain.)
The next time she brings it up I'm going to tell her to "get over it". It won't be as satisfying as "F*** Off!" but the shock of someone talking back to her should shut her up for a while.
