Men with Image Issues

I heard on the radio this morning that more and more men are seeking help from psychologists in order to cope with their falling self esteem issues. Some won't take off their shirts because they have man boobs, others have different issues related with self image.
I know this is going to sound awful, but YAY! Why am I happy? Because now that it's happening to men I hope it pushes society to DO something about it! (As a side note I still think that if men had periods or babies, periods wouldn't exist unless you wanted them too and having a baby could all be done out of body)
I have also heard that more and more men are going under the knife to perfect themselves, much like soooo many women do now. Sad hey? But yay. Men are finally feeling the push and how much it SUCKS to not be happy with your image due to outside influence!
When R and I were on the cruise I looked around at (mostly men) proudly flaunting their beer guts and said to him "I think I need to think more like a man when I think about my body" hehe  How nice would it be (ladies) to walk out in a bathing suit being a size 30 and thinking we are God's gift like so many men do??? Can you imagine that? I can't. But dare to dream.
I am trying to get over my body image issues but they don't seem to go anywhere.
I do love the new Dove commercials though. I really do. They are trying to do something positive unlike mainstream media who only show us thin perfect women and I applaud Dove for that! Aka I support Dove products. :0)
Happy Thursday everyone!

Think about this again in twenty years and you'll conclude that these forms of ours, are poor excuses for vehicles while we're here, you can try to put the breaks on aging obsessing with our bags of chemicals, but in the end it will over come us and we'll finally realize, that all along it's what's grown inside was all that matters...time flies and all things pass

I hide my protuberences in my house. I haven't been outside for three months. Now that I have finished my book (see blog), I may go to the PO to mail some to deserving people.

I think that show may have a short run. I hope it comes back!

And we all have hope... But I think we all still struggle in our own ways.

I go through phases about my body image. I've been working really hard to improve my inner body image. It's tough though with the way they edit models in magazines to be even thinner than they are in person.

Have you seen How to Look Good Naked? Now that's a great show to help women walk around like they are god's gift to men!

Do I mean thin when I say fine female form? Not necessarily. I like curves, and I don't like the skeletal look that many young women seem to think is attractive to the opposite sex.
Did you know that a study was recently done where men of all ages were polled, and the findings showed that MOST men prefer women who have a little meat on their bones. MOST men, according to the study, would prefer women who were slightly overweight as opposed to women who were slightly underweight.
We've got to stop paying attention to those f**king SlimFast and Jenny Craig commercials! (Not only is the anorexic look not attractive, it's also unhealthy - physically, mentally, and psychologically.)

I think I was a size 4 when I was about 13. At 67 I have just about given up on my image and am just trying to stay healthy. Like you, I really like the new Dove commercials.

there somewhere.Maybe a botox will do the trick.
Well lets get away from this foolishness.
You are right about that,at the club you see all these so
called body builder, think that they spend more time in
the mirror and checking out what they look like.
Now the funny part they all got big bicep, should thigh etc.
Then most of them will not shower for they are ashamed of
their(not sure what the word is,mental block here)
Yes,men are very very vain.
I kid you not. They are spending tons of money to look great.
As for me a sweet old man, this face has character not to
mentioned not a bad body there.Nice legs.Oh What else I got
A great chest, have not sagged yet.

To me, it's a damned shame that anybody, male or female, has their self-image attached to their body shape. (But, I must admit, now that I've lost almost 25 lbs. and can fit into jeans with a 34" waist again, I do feel better about myself!)
Mary loves me, and she would continue to love me if I weighed 400 lbs. and was covered with boils. And I would love her too if that we the case with her. However, she is very pleasing to the eye.
I must admit, it is nice to see a fine female form from time to time, but appreciation of such things has nothing to do with respecting a person as a human being.
It's sad that we listen to the ads. I'm always amazed that women are forced to paint their faces and "lift and separate" in order to be "attractive."
To be honest with you, the Plastic People, such as Britney and Jessica, don't do anything for me. Give me a more natural woman any day of the week.!

Get this, I saw a thing on TLC about a guy getting fat injections into his stomach to look like a 6 pack! I mean, could you get any vainer!!!! (Is that a word? I don't think so) Could you get any more vain!

it is funny how some men just don't care what they look like, and they are totally comfortable like that! I am so self conscious about my body image.
