Breakfast is Served

08 April 2009

I thought I’d start today out on a nice note so I fixed a nice breakfast for myself. What we have here is a ham and cheese omelet and hash browns. Now I usually make eggs for breakfast but normally I’d just scramble a couple and eat ‘em. Just something to fill my belly more than anything else. But today I thought, “Why not give myself a little treat?” So I did! I just love me some hash browns…

School Update:

Well, I thought I would be able to take four classes at the college but financial aid said I’d only have three covered under student loans and a fourth would have to pretty much come out of my pocket. So I had to pull back to three. I need to make sure I can cover my expenses with all the traveling and such before I can decide whether or not I can afford a fourth class.

But one nice thing is that I combined two classes into one day. On Thursdays I have a morning class from 830 to 1230 and then I have an evening class from 600 to 1000pm. So I’ll be gone all day and have a five and a half hour break in the middle. But at least it will give me chance to work on the other classes while I’m waiting. The other cool thing is that the college has a wi-fi network so I can sit outside and still have the internet available. So the old laptop will be going to school with me.

I’ve already read the first two chapters in both of the Medical Terminology and the Anatomy books and I’m kinda dreading looking into the Accounting book. I hate Math. OK, maybe I should be a bit clearer about this. I don’t mind “math” as it is, but I certainly have a dislike for Algebra. I kinda like Geometry only because I can see how I can use it in my daily life and all that, but that’s usually simple math and I don’t mind that. I have to see how Accounting will be like before I make a decision on whether or not I like it. I’ve taken Probability and Statistics back several years ago and I HATED it. There were just so many formulas for so much stuff and it all eventually ended up in a big jumble in my head. I did pull off a “B” in the class but I had to really bust my ass to get it.

The only bad thing about school is I had to give up the last of my bowling season. The third class is held on Friday night and I won’t be able to bowl in my league anymore. But that’s OK too, because we only had 5 weeks left in the season. I will skip class on the last night of bowling so I can spend the last night with my friends and party it up a bit!

Crappy Weather:

The weather has been absolutely crazy lately. Last Sunday it was 74° and sunny as hell. Monday was a high of about 54° (that was at midnight Sunday night) and kept dropping all day until it hit about 26° Monday night. And all kinds of snow. It would white-out sometimes because it was coming down so hard. Tuesday it got up to about 38° and snowed off and on all freaking day. It dropped to about 29° last night and it’s supposed to be in the 50’s today and sunny. But it’s windy as hell too so I don’t expect it to be even remotely warm.

I had to cover up our corn in the garden and I hope that the tarp didn’t damage the stalks too badly. I won’t really worry about it because the corn has been growing really well for us and if it’s all dead we’ll just have to replant. But I was hoping to have corn ready to eat for the Fourth of July. The other stuff already in the garden is pretty hardy so I didn’t cover anything else. I’ll pull the tarp off today and inspect to see if there is much damage to any of the plants.

Right now I have a ton of plants started and sitting on the darn kitchen counter. I certainly didn’t want to plant ‘em in the garden just to have them killed by the frost. But it’s getting might crowded up on the counter and all that growing stuff has been tempting the cats to explore and see if the green stuff is edible yet. I already lost several tomato plants to our cats and believe me those damn things are hard to grow from seed. I think I will plant a container with “cat grass” and let the cats munch on that and keep them from my garden stuff!

What Else?

I know there was something else I wanted to mention…

Oh yeah! Is it just me or does it seem as though people are dropping like flies around MyBloggers? So many of my Friends have not been here in 30+ days that I only seem to have 3-4 active Friends here anymore. Maybe it’s just Spring Fever and people are getting out of the house and getting real sun and not just the glow off of the computer monitor. But I just don’t hear from the people who used to be very prolific bloggers.

I just wanted to throw that out there and see if anyone else had noticed the same thing.
