Review, Three+ Years!

I forgot to tell y'all that "I'm Alive... So Far." at the end of my last post. I forgot that was my so-called tag-line... Well it's been a while hasn't it?

I honestly don't know where to begin with the last three and-a-half years.

I had to re-read my last few posts to catch up to my own time-line so here's a flash of the last three and a half years.

*AHEM*

A baby was born in mid July. It was a girl. Her name is Cassaundra or Cassie for short.

I did cry. And I was WAY more involved in the whole birth scene than I had anticipated. I was planning on an supportive, over the wife's shoulder, type of role, but I ended up right down in the middle of the whole.....

Anyway, she was a healthy little girl!

Now once we had a child, our whole lives became devoted to giving the best we could provide to her...

Fast forward to last March. March 5th of this year, M (for those new, M is my wife) lost her father, Cassie's Grandfather to a heart attack. He had only been with her 7-8 time before he passed away. She will not have a real memory of him, just photos...

So "Family" became a priority. Both sides of our family were in Michigan, or close.

The house M inherited was owned was free and clear.

And we debated moving back to Michigan.

(Here I should mention the fact that I am, ABSOLUTELY adverse to moving to Michigan.)

Soooo... We are moving (actually have, moved) back to Michigan for family reasons.

1. School system is light years ahead of what we were dealing with in Tennessee.

2. Both sides of the family are with-in 3 hours or less of drive, which is better than 12 hours of drive time... (add stops for fuel+potty....)

3. We have a neighborhood now. Before in Tennessee we had to drive somewhere to walk, or ride a bike. We literally (yes, I mean that in the correct sense) lived on the side of a mountain. (Granted I loved that about where we were, but it didn't work with a child...)

Soooo. Now I am in Michigan again. after 10+ years of saying I would NEVER go back. Yeah, I guess you could say I'm a bit conflicted.

I am angry. I am pissed off. I do not like the... Attitude of the place.

But I will live, and I will do my absolute best to help make my child thrive in this environment, no matter how much I hate the people and place we live...

I guess that kinda sums up the last few months..

Yeah,

I'm Alive... So far.

It is so good to hear from you. I've thought of you once in awhile and wondered 'what is going on with that nice young man.' Thank you for the update.

Ah, a sweet baby girl! Congratulations! It is the people you love who
make you happy..not where you live.

Hi!
We are the same way here in VA that you were in TN, we are always debating if we should move to a neighborhood. Congrats on your daughter!!!

I like the neighborhood, but not the whole "gotta keep up appearances or the neighbors will think we are uncouth" mentality.

Congratulations!
Maybe Michigan will grow on you.

I expect it will, once my daughter gets into school and sports and such. As of right now the pace of life is so much more frantic here and it feels as though the world is about to run me over. Everyone talks faster, drives faster... Sheesh, even the churches have coffee shops in them to hop people up...
