Wrecked in Ft. Worth Texas

I was just rear-ended by a sleeping, high woman in Ft. Worth. I looked up into my rear view mirror in bumper-to-bumper traffic to see a woman with her head on her chest plowing over into my lane at a rapid rate of speed right toward my rear bumper. Somehow, there was an opening and her drug addled, sleepy brain directed her Dodge Durango right into the back end of my Trailblazer. I was so chapped when she waltzed over to where I was and said, "I don't have any insurance." Later, I even began to feel sorry for her, just not sorry enough to let her off scott-free. I immediately dialed 911 and reported the incident. The officer took about 15 minutes to arrive and do his thing.
This girl looked to be in her 20's. She had all the signs of being high on something. Exaggerated hand and leg movements. Erratic behavior. I told the officer to check it out and could I please go now. He cut me loose and agreed to check further. She was due to receive a stack of citations for obvious reasons.
I'm irritated that with all of today's modern technology, there's still no mechanism in place to ensure that un-insured motorists pay for the damages they inflict on other vehicles.
Fortunately, I'm fine. Slight dull headache. The car isn't terribly damaged, but certainly looks worse for wear.
GRRRR!!!
I canceled my dinner plans with an old friend and just went to my brother's house.

I don't understand how drivers get a tag for their car if they don't have insurance. I guess a lot of people get insurance long enough to get a tag and then drop it but the insurance company is supposed to notify the state that it has been dropped then the state supposedly pulls the tag and the drivers license but it rarely works that way. Thankfully your wife was not in the car with you! The headache is probably due to stress on your neck; just remember problems can surface days or even weeks later. Glad it was not more serious.

I am so sorry. Dallas and Fort Worth traffic is the stuff of nightmares.

No injuries, that's the good news.

Sorry. I'm glad you are all right! Your insurance will pay and then go after her. So unfortunate. Accidents are a real hassle when you need the car and it is in a shop.

Been there, done that (rear ended by uninsured 20-something). Cost me $250 (last year). Sorry 'bout your bad luck.

The problem is that if they don't have insurance, they probably don't have money to pay for damages they incur. However, your insurance company will try to recover their cost by suing her. Glad you will not hurt.

It's bad enough being rear ended but even worse by insuranceless druggie.

I'm glad you're okay, but sorry this had to happen at all. That non-pastoral stuff is found in pastures, so it's kind of flock-related.

Well done Laura.
