Suffocating

That's how I would describe the heat around here these days. Fortunately, we have a wonderful air conditioner in our home. I've been out working in it and all I want to do is drink water all day. The heat takes away my appetite.
I've not blogged recently after our vacation. We hit the ground running when we got back and yesterday was the first real day off I've taken since we got back. Today was jam packed with activity and tomorrow promises to be much slower. My brother-in-law who recently returned from Afghanistan is flying in tomorrow evening. He wants to be here for Sofia's birthday which is Wednesday.
Jenn and I both have been feeling nauseated and having other "stomach" problems for a couple of days. I think there is a virus going around, but Jenn thinks it's dehydration. Could be both, I suppose. Right now I feel as if I could toss all my cookies. Blech!
Jenn also contracted an ear infection and a cough, so she had to wean Sofia a little earlier than she planned. The antibiotics and other medicine she's taking would have passed through the milk. It's gone much more smoothly than I imagined. The first night was a little rough, but she's adjusting nicely. Her little hair getting longer and I'm just crazy about her.
It's almost time for fall planting, but I'm not sure I have the gusto for it. By the time I get home from work, the last thing I want to do is spend another hour out in the heat. BUT, the fresh, organic veggies are so tasty and I really enjoy giving much of it away.
I've been thinking about posting an article including a video of what I do when we move the portable buildings. I think it's quite interesting. More so, if you're not the one out there doing it! LOL I wish I could get some our customers on candid camera. It's hilarious at times.
We were declined for our cash out refinance over a technicality. Shortly after that, the job interview I had lined up got canceled as they had already filled the position. You win some, you lose some. I'm ready to start winning a few! LOL
Until later!

Good news, bad news kind of post. It's okay to lament every now and then. Hope you guys are feeling better. And here's blowing a kiss to Sofia on her birthday (today!).

Thanks for the birthday wishes. She isn't supposed to be this old this fast! Yeah, I did a fair bit of lamenting, but we're moving on! Good things are ahead.

Here's hoping you win more than just some.

I hate thinking that August is yet ahead. Hopefully, it will cool off soon. Yes, drink plenty of water.

I'm hoping August turns out cooler this year. Our high temps are already dipping below 100 now.

Sometimes it seems it takes forever to find the right job. I'll pray that you do soon. The heat is terrible here too. I feel for you working in it. I can't believe little Sophie is a year old. Time does fly.

She isn't supposed to be this big this fast! I filled out another "stack" of online applications for the state a few days ago. I think they are giving preference to veterans and disabled veterans even more. I'm fine with that. My turn will come around! Stay cool, Joan. Our high temps are finally dipping below 100 again. Whew.....

I got an email from Territorial Seed the other day about it's time to be planting overwintering onions. I might get some zucchini in a week or two.
comment by troutbend on July 30, 2012 2:09 PM ()
Good luck on the zucchini! I'll bet it's already started cooling of in Drake?

Thanks, we do! Finally the heat is letting up some as well.

Life will be better soon. Remember how the heat got better last year in
September? If you missed one job another will come up and it will probably be better. The state is notorious for letting politicians fill positions that should be merit system. When Bobby worked for the Dept
of Corrections, Gene Stipe put his people in all the best slots regardless
of qualifications. That is why he left. Fortunately Gene Stipe and his
political machine is gone.

PS: I've been craving Chelino's. We might just have to go together one of these days when we start feeling better!

I guess that post did sound a little whiney. Sorry about that. I was actually trying to be positive.
I was trying to remember when the heat started letting up and was desperately hoping it was in August, but I know better.

Hope you're both feeling better soon.
