One of Those Days

Today has been such a strange day so far that I figured I might as well share it with you. This morning, my alarm went off at around 6:45, and since I didn’t have to get up until 8, I just rolled back over and kept sleeping. Well, apparently my alarm didn’t go off, so that at 8:50 I woke up disoriented and realized in a panic that I had only a half hour to get to my 9:30 a.m. Writing class. The car was piled with 4 inches of new snow and a very challenging layer of ICE. I walked in late to class only to find that they were in the middle of a pop quiz about this week’s readings. Needless to say, I walked out of there needing a hug. But just for good measure, when I got back to my (my mom's) car, I broke the side mirror. By the time 11 rolled around, I was ready to call it a day.

~~~
I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon which I'd almost forgotten about going to. If you miss it, you must pay $25, which is totally understandable. They don't want people just not showing up when another client/patient could use your appointment. I was a few minutes late to that also, but they were running behind too, so it worked out. My doctor is a very tall, brawny, scruffy guy who reminds me of a lumberjack. He's been my psychiatrist for a while and I really feel comfortable with him. He takes his time and listens, doesn't just hurry me out after a couple minutes, like a lot of them do. He asked how I was doing - I told him fine. None of my "red flags" (sleep problems, paranoia, racing thoughts, negative thinking, aggression, food issues) have surfaced which shows that my medications are working properly. I did have to get blood work done to check my levels. One of my medications for Bipolar can effect liver, kidney, and thyroid function. I'll get my results from the blood tests next week. Hopefully I won't have to begin taking thyroid medication, but the doctor indicated that its likely.
Dinner for me tonight will be egg rolls - not exactly the healthiest choice, but I don't really care. I'm not in the mood to make anything from scratch and besides that, my parents are out for the evening, so I'm just cooking for one.
Have whatever you want for dinner on days like that! Sheesh. I hope you enjoyed them and things are looking up by now.
A day is just 24 hours. It can start over at any point.
Very true
Hope that was just an isolated day.
I have a friend who graduated from college a few years ago with a communications major, was going along trying to find a job in her field, and then all of a sudden developed the manifestations of bipolar disorder. I call her Career Barbie because every few months she decides on a new life's work: fashion design, fashion modeling, theater costume design, retail management, retail marketing, nursing, being a doctor, being a surgeon, flight attendant, band promoter, public relations intern, and so on. She'll set off towards that career by taking college courses, and then 3 or 4 months later she's moved to something else. I've often wondered if her medication needs to be adjusted.
Thanks...feeling much better now.
What you described with your friend sounds so familiar. I understand that quite a few people with Bipolar are job/career "hoppers" due to the nature of the disorder. Hopefully she's a lot more balanced today.
The day is over--a new day tomorrow--we all have bad days--egg rolls cure everything (with hot Chinese mustard.)
PS I know you need money, etc., but I hope you plan to spend that State tax return on yourself--a fun thing!!! Use the Federal tax return for school or whatever!
My income tax refunds arrived early this year - provided me with much needed money for next semester classes.
