The past week and a half I spent on a new project for my 101 Arch Design Studio class. The project assignment was to design a museum space containing three chosen art pieces.
This exercise taught how to draw in perspective. I chose three art pieces which I felt matched my level of drawing ability (which is minimal) and did a variety of sketches from them. Here are two of my sketches:
Then concept models were created to show the relationship between the art pieces. The concept for my project, that I got from the relationship between the pieces I chose, was decomposition and suggestion of the whole. We had been studying this concept in lecture, so that's where this idea of decomposition came from.
Here is my first attempt:
And final model:
This is my favorite perspective of the final model:
The next group project sounds really cool. We'll be designing and constructing a Living Wall which will be an outside project...hopefully the snow will hold off for a few weeks. Should be fun!
This past weekend I ate authentic Thai food for the first time with a group of friends from the LGBTQ group at school. Found this place by accident when we were cruising around downtown, looking for something to eat. Menu looked interesting, decor looked fine, and we were hungry - so we thought what the hell.
We got there for a late dinner and immediately got a place by the pond (well, a little pool of water right in the middle of the restaurant). A bit loud at first, even some unhappy faces (for some reason) but once we got an appetizer, Fresh spring rolls..all smiles :)
Than we got drunken man noodles. For shrimp it said "Load of shrimp" on the menu - they really meant it. Drunken man noodles were fantastic! The shrimp was awesome - not too spicy either. Here's a pic:
We also ordered the Crabmeat fried rice. The thing was huge - it fed our group of six easily.
Then for dessert we ordered the Mango Ice Cream fritter -
Service was wonderful, waiter was on time, with no extra stupid checkups. The funny part was during the meal, very loud techno music was playing (which wasn't too popular with the other customers) so it was turned off.
than that.
