Is that the saying? I was too much of a sloth to look it up.
There is exactly 3 weeks left in my 4th quarter of my Freshman year! The last day of Spring term is May 24th. Finals week begins on the 27th and ends on the 31st. I signed up to take my exams spread out - not bunched. I'm not a fan of all-night study sessions. I'm completely brain dead if I don't get enough sleep the night before an important test. The only final I'm concerned with is Physics. My instructor is great in lectures, but not so great with exams. He never goes over anything that will be on the test, so we must study EVERYTHING and hope he doesn't ask something we missed. So far, I've gotten fair grades in his class, but hopefully the final won't be too difficult. I belong to a Physics study group and I'm sure we'll be getting together a few times prior to finals week.
I visited my grandma yesterday after my class got out, and we sat outside in the sun. It was hot after a while. She really loves being outdoors. We saw the wild turkey that's been hanging out in the woods behind her senior apartment and boy, was it huge! At first I thought it was a really big pheasant, but Grandma assured me it was a Turkey. My grandma has really bad RA in both wrists. She's in a lot of pain. She also has this weird thing with her fingers where they don't straighten out. I keep telling her to see someone about it since she can barely use a pen anymore! It's crazy. My mom thinks she would need surgery to correct it. She's old school and doesn't much like doctors. My grandma's Birthday is next week. My parents and I are taking her to Flemings Steakhouse restaurant for a steak meal. It's an expensive restaurant and dad's not too pleased about having to pay for everyone lol.
I did find summer employment...yay! The past two summers I worked for a construction company which used to be owned by my brother-in-law, but he ended up selling it this year. Anyway, I reapplied with the new owner (who seemed okay), and he agreed to hire me back. I told him that I'm a student and only looking for summer employment, and he seemed okay with it. He told me I'd be the youngest hire at his company. That sort of freaks me out a bit, but hopefully the other guys won't give me too much of a hard time. I'm pretty easy going so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll be paid a really great wage - around $15.96/hr, which is great for a general road construction laborer.
I'll be able to spend more time with my boyfriend Brent once my classes and finals are done. My work hours this summer will be 7-2 M,W, T, and F, so it will free up a lot of time for us. He will be teaching an evening course at a woman's college this summer. This will be his first time ever teaching, so that's pretty exciting for him! We have a lot of plans for day/weekend trips this summer - so it should be fun! My friends and I are also planning to do a ton of water skiing and boating this summer - something I didn't get to do much last summer.
My niece is doing great - growing like crazy and so cute!
My sister is less than excited about me posting pictures of her children on here or on facebook as much anymore, so I might only be able to post one or two at a time. I can understand her being cautious, especially with all the crazies in the world (not that any of you are!) :) She did give me permission to post these two: Enjoy!
And my favorite photo: (my niece on the right...obviously)
